The society maintains an extensive genealogical reference library, publishes a quarterly
booklet, and member bi-monthly newsletter, as well as a variety of genealogical reference
works, primarily Iowa vital records, and holds an annual conference.
State Historical Society of Iowa Library & Iowa State Archives

Housed in the State Historical Building, the Society & Archives contain Iowa-related
maps, manuscripts, periodicals, and a statewide repository for land office plats, census
records, and a county microfilm collection. As of 1989, the State Historical Society,
under the direction of the Genealogical Society of Utah, was involved in a statewide
county records microfilming project, including vital statistics, probate and land.
NOTE: The State Historical Society no longer answers out-of-state queries ... only
in-state.
